October Moodboard

Thursday, 25 October 2018
I've been so inspired by the beautiful weather this October and felt drawn to clothing that incorporates the colours of the season. I'm picturing a palette of dark fallen leaves in wet piles, glossy umber conkers, the fading remains of summers roses, and muted cool greens that sparkle with dew in the morning sun. Heavily romanticised Autumn colours, of course- sometimes a grey day is nothing more than a grey day.

here is my shop page of clothing I'm into at the moment

Acne Studios Autumn

Saturday, 1 September 2018
Whilst browsing ready-to-wear new in on Acne Studios I was inspired by the beautiful colours- and then clocked today is September 1st. The unofficial first day of Autumn. Acne has been in my top three brands for about 10 years now, they consistently strike the perfect balance between timeless chic classics and creative, innovative design. The Acne aesthetic is everything, basically. And no-one does Autumn/Winter dressing better then the Swedes...

Amsterdam Photo Diary

Thursday, 28 June 2018
This post is a little belated as I visited Amsterdam in late March, but I kept looking back at my phone pictures and dreaming of another trip. Amsterdam is up there with my favourite cities I've ever been to. One of those places you wander around thinking constantly "when can I move here". I loved the gorgeous canal houses, with their striking gables and funny hooks to hoist furniture up. The lovely cobbled streets, rammed with bicycles, and endless bridges across the water. I would really like to see more of the Netherlands now.

We stayed at the Hoxton which was situated within the "De 9 Straatjes" aka The Nine Streets, which are full of little cafes and cool shops. The hotel was beautiful and the perfect location away from the typical garish touristy zone (there was no stag do in sight). I wouldn't recommend the restaurant at the hotel, but in the evenings it was nice to wander down and sit in the armchairs and sofas that face out on to the sparkling water.

My 5 recommendations for first time visitors
Van Gogh Museum where I picked up a knitted Dutch Miffy wearing an Van Gogh sunflower dress! I die!
Foodhallen great food market with amazing tacos
Micropia which was very cool, modern and interesting- for science fans this a must
Anne Frank House as a little girl who read this book several times this was surreal to go visit and very humbling to see one families experience of a horror that affected millions
Restaurant De Kas delicious organic food straight from the garden on site

Summer Style Inspiration

Saturday, 23 June 2018
It is that glorious time of year again when the hot sun shines from dawn to dusk. Despite that fact I'm not spending my summer in an 17th Century Italian villa a la Elio in Call Me By Your Name, this moodboard is firmly Mediterranean inspired. I'm loving crisp white shirts, linen dresses, vintage cotton blouses, silk midi shirts and lots of gold jewellery. Also a Toteme swimsuit with a Toteme towel and Toteme headscarf would do very nicely..

Two Beauty Favourites

Thursday, 21 June 2018
I am massively into my beauty and can't help to buy and try new products all the time. This is two picks from my 2018 skincare and makeup buys which I've really loved.

Omorovicza is one of my top skincare brands and I've tried quite a lot of the line (shoutout to the always excellent Space NK boxing day sale and my old Liberty discount). I was renewing a PORTER magazine subscription and amazingly, the Miracle Oil was the gift with purchase. It is truly dreamy and my skin feel baby soft, hydrated and glowy the morning after use. I wouldn't repurchase because it's too expensive but for the meantime I'm so happy to pretend I'm a Hungarian spa queen every night. Makeup pick the only thing thats been on my eyes of late is the Nars Wanted Palette, which I think was actually limited edition. I love its warm, jewel tones and shameless glitters. It's quite bold compared to my other palettes so I like the change. I can really go from ~day 2 night~ as cliche as that is.

In Bloom

Thursday, 10 May 2018

While I was away in America recently, a heatwave in the UK made everything bloom. By the time I was back, the trees and plants were unreconizable from their winter dregs and suddenly in colours of soft pink and lush green. This is also known as Spring (duh). Hallelujah - at last some warmer weather. My resident cactus is doing well and theres some fresh flowers on my desk. All is well.

I saw this second picture on tumblr and thought how if there was a Met gala theme that simply required a costumed version of yourself- this would suit me quite well. Surrounded by flowers and foliage. The picture is by Irving Penn and quite apt because it was for US Vogue in April 1995, aka the month and year I was born. There is something about the beauty of flowers that makes me so happy.

Alighieri The Fractured Cloud Necklace
Alighieri The Fractured Cloud Necklace

After writing about Alighieri in my September Wishlist post I've been umming and ahhing over which piece to invest in. On Saturday, there was an open studio in North London so it was the perfect time to go try on a few and meet Rosh too! After some coffee and deliberation, I went home with the Fractured Cloud necklace from the Lost Dreamer collection. It's a beautiful piece with a literary story so a great purchase to kind of mark the graduation from my English Literature degree (this is me justifying the purchase to myself). Definitely an indulgdence but I'm v happy with my new necklace- and it probably won't be the last from Alighieri...
